The Vaneaxial fan represents the apex of axial fan design for applications demanding high static pressure without sacrificing axial flow[13].
The key differentiating feature is the inclusion of a set of stationary guide vanes, or stator vanes, positioned immediately following the rotating impeller[13]. The rotating blades impart kinetic energy and velocity to the air, but they also introduce a significant tangential or rotational velocity component—the "swirl—which is a waste of energy[13].

They are the fan of choice for critical applications like tunnel ventilation, long-distance air supply in mine shafts, and the complex Variable Air Volume (VAV) systems used in large building HVAC, where a controlled, high-pressure axial flow is necessary to overcome the resistance of numerous bends, dampers, and filters in the ductwork[13].
The integration of these vanes transforms the fan from a simple air mover into a highly efficient air-compression machine.
